Neil Young to headline Big Day Out 2009

Neil Young to headline Big Day Out 2009

Canadian rocker Neil Young will headline the 2009 Big Day Out music festival, and will play side shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Festival organisers have confirmed that Young, 62, will play the annual event, which travels to the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland, New Zealand, in January and February.

On his first Australian tour since 2003, Young has also announced dates for Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in January which go on sale on September 19.

Big Day Out organisers were unwilling to confirm rumours that the Arctic Monkeys and the Ting Tings would also be on the bill.

The first line-up announcement for the popular festival is expected within the next month.

In past years major international acts such as Nirvana, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys and Metallica have rocked the Big Day Out, along with local acts such Silverchair, Powderfinger, You Am I, The Living End and Grinspoon.

Neil Young 2009 Australian tour dates:

* January 21 - Brisbane Entertainment Centre

* January 24 - Sydney Entertainment Centre

* January 28 - Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne

Who cares, as long as he comes. Bought my tickets for his Brisbane concert today. Would have gone to the Sydney concert but have to be in Vancouver on that day.

The man has earned the right to play where and when he likes. He doesn't need the money and his ego doesn't need a boost. The profit will probably go to the Bridge School. To quote. "you're all just pissin' in the wind."

yuk your lack of vocabulary is showing... and so is your lack of taste, but its all a matter of perceptions right? Neil Young will have sold out shows so you're opinion is just that!

Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Stones just to name a few are still around and doing a great job keeping up with the crap that is around now. How many modern bands & singers will be around for 30+ yrs. Me thinks not many.
